Is Sister Jean’s Funeral Mass open to the public?

Yes, seating in Madonna della Strada Chapel will be open on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, seating capacity is limited in the Chapel, and the Wake and Mass will be livestreamed for all who wish to honor Sister Jean from home. Visitation and Funeral Information Page

Will Wake and Mass be livestreamed?

Yes, Wake and Mass will be livestreamed on the day of the event at LUC.edu/sisterjean/livestream.

Parking Information

We would like to make available as much parking for campus visitors as possible. Please allow extra time for heavy traffic and parking delays.

Media has specific parking instructions.

Complimentary parking will be available in the Main Parking Structure at 1110 W. Sheridan Road. The campus entrance is located at the corner of W. Sheridan Road and N. Kenmore Avenue.

If the Main Parking Structure reaches capacity, additional parking will be available in the following locations: 

  • Fordham Garage, 2455 N. Sheridan Road 
  • West Loyola Lot, 1236 W. Loyola Avenue 
  • Contractor’s Lot, 1227 W. Loyola Avenue 
  • Northend Lot, 6611 N. Sheridan Road 

Complimentary golf carts will continuously circulate campus to shuttle guests from the parking and rideshare locations to and from the services.

Taxi and Rideshare Transportation

The designated taxi and rideshare drop-off and pick-up location is: 

  • 1125 W. Loyola Avenue, Chicago, IL 60626  
    (intersection of N. Winthrop Ave. and W. Loyola Ave.)

How can I get to Loyola via public transportation?

Loyola strongly encourages the use of public transportation. The Lake Shore Campus is conveniently located off the CTA Red Line-Loyola “L" station. Class and Work Schedule

Sister Jean always put learning first. Classes will be held as scheduled on Thursday, October 16, with the following exceptions:   

  • Faculty may, at their discretion, cancel undergraduate classes from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to attend the funeral and reception. If so, faculty will notify their students of the cancellation no later than the night before.  
  • If students miss classes from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to attend the funeral and reception, they will receive an excused absence and will be given the opportunity to make up any missed work. 

With supervisor approval, staff will be permitted to attend the funeral and reception.
